By: Josh Hanson Thursday, February 27, 2025 @ 5:24 PM

After back-to-back Touring Pro Division events, the PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour returns to Queensland this weekend for the 2025 Beaudesert Invitational.
Australia's best bull riders and rankest bucking bulls will do battle across two nights at the Beaudesert Showgrounds. Monster Energy Tour action will begin at 7:30 pm AEST on Friday, February 28th 2025 and 7:00 pm AEST on Saturday, March 1st 2025.
PBR Australia's Can-Am Junior Academy will also be in action on Saturday evening, with all four divisions competing in the main arena from 5:00 pm AEST.
Tickets are available from the PBR Australia website.
Event History
Dual events were held at Beaudesert in the closing stages of the 2020 season. The afternoon performance went the way of Mount Isa’s Jake Curr, the only cowboy to finish a perfect 2-for-2. The eventual Rookie of the Year was the only rider to cover his bull in the Championship Round, marked 85.50 points aboard Back In Business from CMC Rodeo Company.
Lachlan Richardson took out the night event, posting the two highest scores of the weekend. The Gresford cowboy opened with 86 points on Dunne Bulls' Going Under and backed it up with a memorable 89-point ride on Big Buck Hunter from ST Bucking Bulls in Round 2.
Last season, the buckle went to Clint Glass, who covered two of his three bulls to take home $6,600 in prize money. The 30-year-old jumped from third place to the top of the leaderboard in the Championship Round, courtesy of his 86-point ride aboard Wild Force from Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls.
Format, Prizemoney and Points
Thirty-six cowboys will battle it out for $20,000 in prize money at the first multi-day tour stop of the season. Round 1 will be held on Friday night, and the event will conclude on Saturday with Round 2 and the Championship Round.
There will be 320 points up for grabs towards the 2025 PBR Australian National Standings. Round winners will pick up 40 points each, and the event champion will add a further 200 points to their total in the race to qualify for the Grand Finals in Townsville.
Watch all the action on the PBR Australia Live Stream page from 7:30 pm AEST on Friday and 5:00 pm AEST on Saturday.
Who to Watch
This week, we welcome back a couple of fan favourites to the Monster Energy Tour.
Kurt Shephard spent a year away from tour following his fourth-place finish in the 2023 National Standings. The Mareeba veteran underwent multiple surgeries last year to fix some issues that had developed across his 12 years as a professional bull rider. He told me he feels 21 again and is ready to go.
Also opting to spend some time away from the arena last season was Lachlan Slade. The Tamworth talent stepped away from competition following Origin 3 in Cairns to reset his mind and body. He says it was good to freshen up and spend some time at home, and he is looking forward to getting back into the swing of things in 2025.
Jack Brodrick has started his season on fire, riding 60% of his bulls to lead the PBR Australian National Standings after three events. The 22-year-old has drawn Alpha Blokes Warden from Alpha Blokes, MJ and Keliher Bucking Bulls for the opening round. This bull has built an unblemished record of 16-0 and was the high-marked bull at the 2025 Scone Invitational a few weeks ago. Buck-off times for left-handed riders are pushing into the 4-5 second range, and I don’t think it will be long until we see the buck-off streak broken. He prefers to turn back to the left, which should suit the Bungendore cowboy and give him a great chance at winning the round.
Three-time Stock Contractor of the Year Dittmann Bucking Bulls bring a strong team south from Bloomsbury to kick off their 2025 campaign, including three previous winners of Bucking Bull of the Year.
Defending champion Mr T bucked off 14 straight riders last season, and Brazilian Diego Galdino dos Santos has the task of snapping that streak in the opening round. Heddon Greta's Jack Cameron will climb aboard the two-time winner Cattle King Boogers Beach for his first trip in a PBR Australia arena since picking up the second of his titles at the 2023 Grand Finals.
The Round 1 matchup that has been on everyone's lips this week is between the 2022 Bucking Bull of the Year Cattle King Roid Rage and the No. 3 ranked cowboy Ben Bode. The Calliope young gun rode well at Scone to take the victory and has looked in excellent form outside of PBR competition in the past few weeks. Roid Rage will buck from the right chutes for this matchup, and history tells us he will turn back to the left with plenty of purpose. That will be into the 20-year-old's riding hand and should give him a shot at becoming only the second rider to record a qualified ride aboard the Dittmann Bucking Bull with the two 90+ scores belonging to Aaron Kleier.
