Round 1

As the Professional Bull Riders train rolled back into the Hunter Valley for the 2024 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour Scone Invitational, it was the bovines that shone early at White Park.

With the first 9 cowboys to nod their head unable to reach the whistle and gain a qualified ride, it was Toby Hale who was able to break the deadlock, picking up his first PBRA Qualified Ride taking Ariat West Point (Dunne Bulls) into his hand for an 82.5-point trip.

As the evening moved along it was the animal athletes who continued to show out, with After Dark (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls) proving too much for Fraser Babbington to handle away from his hand, ejecting the 2016 PBRA Champ in 2.06 seconds for a 42.5-point bull score marker.

After earning a re-ride courtesy of a stumble from Paintbox (Troy Keliher), Dungog rider Thomas Hudson was able to make the most of his second opportunity, taking Midnight Special all the way to the eight for 85.5-points and collecting the Round 1 win on Friday.

Round 2

Night two's action got underway on Saturday at Scone with Willow Tree's own Clint Glass the first cowboy to successfully find the whistle and open up his 2024 PBR Australia account, with Wild Jacket (Morgan Cattle Co) half faking to the left and then settling into a clockwise trip for Glass to collect 83.5-points into his hand.

Section three of Saturday night's action started in a flurry with three straight qualified rides, the first being Toby Hale's 82 points on Tennessee Whiskey (Lazy G) to be the first to cover multiple bulls at White Park across the weekend and then was closely followed by two PBR veterans in Lane Mellers (83.5 points on Da Bear- Lazy G) and Lachlan Richardson (81.5 points on Rusty Latoon- Lazy G) giving them both their first scores of the event.

The short-go line up was settled when Jackson Field took Just Right (Troy Keliher) to the promised land and punched his ticket to the money round in the Hunter Valley later that evening.

Round 3

The business end of the PBR Scone invitational was a fascinating short-go round with Ky Borghero chalking up his first ever PBR Australia Qualified Ride, sharing the chute with Nemesis (Maynes Bucking Bulls), who went away from the lefties hand for an 82.5-point marker.

Lane Mellers stepped up big time during the money round, with a mammoth 86 points on Tough Walk (Maynes Bucking Bulls) who went into his hand and with plenty of intensity from the animal athlete, Mellers drew the highest score of the event and take the event lead with a 169.5-point event aggregate.

Thomas Hudson also made sure he was in for a podium finish, taking Vertical Limits (Lazy G) all the way to the horn for an 80-point marker giving him a 2nd place event finish on 165.5 points for the weekend.

Both Leather brothers also were keen to draw a paycheck out of the trip to Scone, with both finding the whistle during Round 3. Younger brother Boston was first to nod his head during the short-go, collecting a score of 83.5 points on Mystery (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls) after getting a re-ride and was then followed by reining PBR Australia champion and older brother Macaulie who used his last out of the event to book a trip to the pay window on Night Train (Diamond S Bucking Bulls) for a cool 85-points for the Central Queenslander.
