Australia’s top bull riders, elite international invitees, and the toughest bucking bulls in the country all come together at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre this weekend for the 2025 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals.

The event will feature thirty cowboys competing for a share of the $150,000 prize pool over two nights. The competition kicks off with Round 1 and Round 2 from 7:30 p.m. AEST on Friday, 31 October, and wraps up with Round 3 and the Championship Round at 7:30 p.m. AEST on Saturday, 1 November.

For fans holding VIP on the Dirt tickets for Saturday, access to the arena for an exclusive meet-and-greet with riders, contractors, and an all-star bucking bull, plus previews of all the night two action, will begin at 5:30 p.m. AEST.

Event Information and Tickets are available from the PBR Australia website.

Event History

Since relocating from Sydney to Townsville seven seasons back, the Grand Finals have delivered plenty of moments for the highlight reels.

In 2018, Brazilian star Lucas Divino finished the weekend going 3-for-5 to dominate the field. He was the only rider to earn a qualifying ride in the Championship Round, covering POA Fully Locked & Loaded (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) for 87 points.

A year later, it was Gresford’s Lachlan Richardson who won three rounds to claim the event title with a four-ride score of 350 points – the highest total recorded under the five-round format. 2018 PBR World Champion Kaique Pacheco finished as the runner-up, more than 17 points behind.

Clermont’s Brady Fielder secured his first of his two Grand Finals titles in 2020. He was the only rider to post a score in the Championship Round, overtaking Kurt Sheppard to win the buckle after scoring 86 points with Drag Iron (Dunne Bulls).

Heywood’s Sam Woodall claimed victory in 2021, narrowly beating Brady Fielder and Aaron Kleier in a fierce contest that was decided on the final ride of the night. Woodall secured the top score in the last round with 90 points on POA Fully Locked & Loaded, with Fielder just behind after he rode for 89.75 points aboard Black Tuxedo (Wallace Bucking Bulls).

In 2022, we witnessed one of the most remarkable moments in PBR Australia’s history. Cody Heffernan took out Round 3, Round 4, and the Championship Round on Saturday to claim the event title and his second PBR Australian National Championship by the narrowest of margins. The Singleton bull rider scored 92 points aboard Cattle King Boogers Beach in the short-go, with Aaron Kleier also going 90 on Mystery (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls).

Brady Fielder secured his second event win in 2023 with a clinical 4-from-5, 341.25-point performance. Once again, he was the only scorer in the final round, teaming up with Mr T (Wallace Bucking Bulls) for 87.75 points to snatch the victory from Donnie Rutherfurd.

Last season, we witnessed a great battle between Macaulie Leather, Qynn Andersen, and Brady Fielder. In the end, consistency was the deciding factor, and Leather came out on top. The Calliope talent finished the weekend a perfect 4-for-4 under the new four-round format.

Format, Prize Money and Points

The 2025 event will follow the revised four-round event format established in 2024.

Rounds 1 and 2 will be contested by all thirty riders, with bulls allocated through a random draw. Round 3 will be a draft round, where all riders will select their bull from a designated pool based on their event aggregate and season rankings.

The top twelve riders in the event aggregate will then return for the Championship Round draft to face one of the twelve best bucking bulls from the 2025 season.

The rider with the highest total score across all four rounds will be named the event champion.

Alongside the $150,000 in prize money available to riders across the Grand Finals, an additional $165,000 in bonuses will be paid to our year-end champions and stock contractors.

The 2025 PBR Australian National Champion will receive a $100,000 bonus, while the runner-up will get a $20,000 bonus. The 2025 Rookie of the Year will also walk away with $10,000 in prize money.

The 2025 Bucking Bull of the Year will take home a $15,000 bonus, and the 2025 Classic Bull of the Year will collect a $5,000 bonus.

Stock Contractors will also be competing for the Grand Finals Bull Team title, with each nominated team of three bulls vying for a share of the $15,000 prize pool.

The Grand Finals are worth double points when compared to regular-season events. Each round winner will earn 80 points, and the event champion of the Grand Finals will earn 400 points. So, the maximum points an individual rider can earn towards the 2025 PBR Australian National Standings is 720.

Talking Points

2025 PBR Australian National Championship

Only three riders have sat atop the standings in 2025: Ben Bode, Jack Brodrick, and, since April’s Rockhampton Invitational, it has been Kurt Shephard.

As we arrive in Townsville for the season finale, just two riders remain in the hunt for the Gold Buckle.

With five event wins and an additional six top 5 finishes, Shephard has accrued 2212.33 championship points. He holds a comfortable 326.83-point lead over the No. 2-ranked Luan Crystian Camara, who has four event wins and five top 5 finishes this season.

As we saw in the 2022 race, when Cody Heffernan triumphed from a mile behind to win the National Championship by the narrowest of margins, it’s possible. However, Camara will need to perform at his absolute best.

2025 PBR Australia Rookie of the Year

Luan Crystian Camara has been at the top of the Rookie standings since his strong run through winter, which saw him crowned the 2025 Cowboy of Origin. He was able to solidify his lead in the 2025 Rookie of the Year race with his runner-up finish at Tamworth last weekend.

Camara leads the rookie leaderboard with 1885.50 points. His nearest rival is Alison Aguiar, who trails by around 674 points, meaning it will require a flawless weekend from his fellow Brazilian if he is to be overtaken.

2025 PBR Australia Bucking Bull of the Year

The twelve top bovines in the country will compete during the Championship Round to find out who will be named the best of 2025.

The bull that receives the highest bull score from the judges in the final round on Saturday night will be crowned the Bucking Bull of the Year.

The contenders for the award, ranked by their top five-out season averages, are:

1 - 011E Alpha Blokes Warden (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls) – 44.05 points

2 - 144 Nirvana (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 43.85 points

3 - 54 Twist & Shout (Dunne Bulls) – 43.45 points

4 - 124 Mooseys Moto Moto (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls/McGuire Partnership) – 43.40 points

5 - 617 Cattle King Roid Rage (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) - 43.30 points

6 - 806 Mr T (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) - 43.30 points

7 – 819 Sky High (Morgys Cattle Company) – 43.20 points

8 – 850 Forever Young (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls) – 43.05 points

9 – 413 Quitting Time (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 42.95 points

10 – 1901 Midnight Special (Diamond S Bucking Bulls) – 42.90 points

11 - 58 Revolver (Dunne Bulls) – 42.85 points

12 - 711 Seven Eleven (CF7 Bucking Bulls) – 42.85 points
